FAQ’s for employers

Please read the following information of common questions about Carefinder.com.au.  If you have any more questions, send us an email, and we guarantee a response within 24 hours.

1. Why chose Carefinder.com.au?
Choosing to utilize this service will allow employers to effectively find the perfect carer for their individual situation at an affordable price.

  • Carefinder is the first, and currently the only web-based introduction service for a full range of caregivers. With an increasing aged population, and an ever growing need for nannies and babysitters,   Carefinder is proud to be the only one-stop-shop for all your homecare needs.  And all for one price, you will have access to the full range of caregivers, so if you need a nanny, carer, babysitter, or a gardener, you are really getting your money’s worth!
  • You can access carers in every city and state Australia wide. By utilizing the job search, you have more accurate access to the carer that is right for you.
  • The site is consistently monitored, so any carers that have not logged in will be removed after a two month period.   This allows you access to the most current and available caregivers.
  • Carefinder.com.au takes pride in its customer service, and any questions or complaints will be dealt with in a 24 hour time frame. This is our guarantee.

2. What exactly is Carefinder.com.au?
Carefinder.com.au is an online introduction service. What this means is that we are giving you the resources and access to hundreds of caregivers in your area, with a click of a button. We offer the full range of Homecare categories, including aged care, disability care, nanny/babysitting, pet care, and gardeners. The website does all the hard work for you, all you have to do is enter your criteria and location, and Carefinder will do just that, find you a carer!  (If available in your area.)

3. Ok, sounds great!  How do I get started?

The first step in getting started is to register. Once you fill out all the requested information, and make the payment of your choice, you will then have access to all the profiles in our network.
Make sure you remember to check all references and ask for a copy of any certifications relevant to your position.  We also recommend posting your job online to better allow all the suitable candidates to contact you!   There may be a large number of caregivers that will not register until they see a potential position in their area, so we recommend posting your position as soon as you know you may need to hire someone, even if it’s a month away.

4. What will I be able to see when I access the caregiver profiles?

Once you log into each caregivers profile, you will have access to their personal details, previous experience, photos, resume, certificates, qualifications, expected salary, availability, and references.  Anything else that you need to know, just ask at the interview.

5. Can I only access full time carers? What if I only need a weekend babysitter?
That’s fine. You can access all sorts of carers, from night carers, to weekend babysitters, to full-time aged care workers.  All profiles contain a list of availability.

6. How many carers should I message for one job?
Finding the right carer can be a difficult task, and there are no guarantees in life unfortunately.  It really depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a full-time nanny, then we would recommend contacting a much broader range of candidates than someone who was looking for a twice-monthly gardener.  The choice is yours, but the more people you contact, the better chance you will have of finding the perfect person.

7. How is your site different than an agency?
Carefinder.com.au is much different than an agency.  We do not charge for cancellations, commissions, staff, overheads, or any other typical agency fees.  We are what is called an introduction service, which is just a way for you to meet or be introduced to the type of person you are looking for. That is all. We give you the tools to meet a local caregiver of your choice, so you don’t have to pay for a newspaper add or spend lots of time and money to do the search yourself, it is already done for you!

8. Do you screen the caregivers? What certifications will they have?
Carefinder is an introduction service only, which means that although we give you the resources to view resumes and references, we do not screen potential employees.  We strongly recommend that each employer do the screenings themselves by conducting interviews first via the telephone and then interviewing in person, always checking references by contacting past employers, and obtaining copies of any relevant certificates and police checks.

9. How do I get their references and qualifications?
At the present moment, we do not feel it necessary to list references on the website due to confidentiality rules. But employees should always have a list of two or three personal and employment references to give to you at the time of the interview.   We do not recommend hiring any person without first checking their references.

10.  I am interested, but not sure which option to pick, can you please explain your different membership options?
At the moment we have two options to choose from: Pay Per Month or Pay Per Job packages.

  • Pay Per Job allows an employer to choose the number of days they feel are necessary to find a suitable carer. If you have a job that starts in one week, then pay only for that one week. If the position starts in 30 days, then pay that amount.
  • Pay Per Month involves a greater online presence. If you are constantly seeking carers in different fields, such as disabilities care, aged care, or even a pet walker, then this option is ideal. Payments can be made eachmonth, each quarter, every six months, ior save and pay annually.

We recommend at least 3 months to find the perfect person, but caregiving can be a transient field, and you may also need a nanny and a gardener. If this is the case, the 12 month option would save you quite a bit of money.  Unfortunately, we cannot pro-rate your joining fees if you chose the one month option, but need more time.  Due to this, we have tried to make the fees as affordable as possible and to give you sufficient time to find the perfect carer.

11. What methods of payment do you accept?  How do I know the payment is secure?
We use PayPal. PayPal protects your financial information with industry-leading security and fraud prevention systems. When you use PayPal, your financial information is not shared with the merchant. Once your payment is complete, you will be emailed a receipt for this transaction.
You can either pay through PayPal if you already have an email and password, or register your payment information through PayPal with your financial details without joining (although registration page may say join here.)

12. What are the suggested hourly rates for the different types of caregivers?
Each caregiver will give their own rates for the position they are applying for.    We recommend taking a look around at other employers and also a variety of caregivers to get an estimate of what may be a fair price. Of course the final hourly rate can always be negotiated with the caregiver.

13. How do I know if the caregiver is currently available?
Only caregivers who are actively seeking work will apply to the position(s) you advertise.

14. Is my personal information available for anyone to see on the internet?
All your personal information is kept completely confidential from caregivers and anyone else using the world wide web.  Your contact details are only provided to registered carers.

15. When a carer responds to my posting, where is the response sent to?
You will receive an email to your nominated email address to inform you a registered carer has submitted their details/resume. To view their application, login into your Employer Account to view the details.

16. How soon can I start to find caregivers after I pay?
You can log in and start searching immediately after your account has been accepted. Approvals usually take less than 24 hours.

17. Which membership option should I choose?
There  is no way to tell exactly how long it will take to find the perfect caregiver, but we give you different options to suit your needs.   Although there is an option for 1 month, which is suitable for many people, finding the right caregiver may take much longer than that.  The care industry tends to be a very transient industry, so we recommend keeping that in mind when choosing a membership option.   The longer amount of time that you join, the more value you will get for your money. Also keep in mind that we are giving you access to all types of caregivers, so if you need a nanny in June, and happen to need a house cleaner in December, a longer membership will give you much better value for your money.

19. Do you have any guarantees that I will find a caregiver with my membership?

Although there are never any guarantees in finding that perfect person right away, we think that if you give yourself a few weeks to a month, you should find someone suitable.   Larger areas and major cities will have a much greater chance in finding someone faster than a small remote town, but logging in regularly, checking your emails, and posting your job will help you find someone much faster.

20. What do I do if a carer doesn’t show up to an interview?  What if they are unreliable after I chose them, can I get my money back?

Unfortunately there are no guarantees as to the actions of the caregivers. Most caregivers have great feedback, but there is always the odd one out.  This is why we highly recommend getting a few solid references, even before you meet them in person.  If the caregiver does prove to be untrustworthy or unreliable, we ask that you please let us know.
